At Body Works Health & Wellness, we’re the West Loop Chicago massage therapy facility who believes that massage therapy and chiropractic care go hand in hand. Both treatments focus on healing techniques made for full body health. They are a dynamic duo that works to enhance one another.
Massage therapy enables more effective spinal adjustment – it warms up the muscles and relaxes the body for optimal results from an adjustment. After a massage the muscles become much more pliant and offer less resistance. Not to mention, massage therapy brings about a more stable adjustment by increasing the body’s ability to accept the adjustment. Studies have shown that when massage therapy is integrated into the chiropractic treatment plan, its synergistic effects accelerate healing, enhance pain relief, and provide longer-lasting results. The bottom line is that massage therapy and chiropractic care complement each other and offer positive benefits to a wide variety of conditions, such as whiplash, herniated disc, degenerative disc disease and sprained muscles.
Dr. Yousef Zaffarkhan is your West Loop Chiropractor at Body Works Health & Wellness; he strongly advocates for massage therapy as an adjunct therapy to chiropractic adjustments. He takes a multi-faceted treatment approach for his patients. Massage therapy is designed to enhance chiropractic adjustments and has many benefits, including:
Body Works Health & Wellness’ licensed massage therapists offer a variety of specific massages tailored for specific conditions. For example, myofascial release massage therapy is ideal to treat tension and tightness in ligaments, tendons, nerves and muscles. Myofascial release massage therapy is focused on massaging, soothing and healing connective tissues. Coupled with patient movement and the practitioner’s contact, adhesions are separated. It’s effective for carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries and other types of injuries with soft tissue damage. Massage therapy can aid in the treatment of muscle spasms, dislocations, arthritis, whiplash, headaches, tendinitis, back pain, neck pain and more.
Overall, massage therapy is a conservative treatment that can be restorative, preventative, and augment chiropractic care. Dr. Yousef Zaffarkhan will advise you on the best type of massage therapy for your condition or injury, as it’s never one-size-fits-all when it comes to massage types. We offer Swedish, hot stone, pre-natal, Thai, deep tissue and sports massages in addition to active release massage.

What a fantastic place to go for an adjustment or a massage. The facilities are extremely clean and new. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. Dr. Z is a great chiropractor with an extensive knowledge of what ails me. He has helped me get rid of my lower back pain and really assisted with my herniated discs in my neck. Iliana is a great massage therapist, and is able to work out knots no other therapist has been able to before. I highly recommend this place for any body part that needs fixing.
